Daniel Craig denies playing a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, “why would I ever bother doing something like that?”

July 11, 2015 by Luke Owen

There was a rumour a couple of months ago, started by Simon Pegg, that 007 himself Daniel Craig had a small cameo role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a Stormtrooper. It was assumed that Pegg was joking, but that didn’t stop the rumour spreading.

But in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Craig seemed to put a stop to all the speculation.

“Why would I ever bother doing something like that?” Craig said. “Fucking hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie?”

To be fair Craig, it is Star Wars. So we guess that settles that, but let’s not forget that Pegg himself denied any involvement in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and was then confirmed to play an alien at San Diego Comic Con.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th and sees J.J. Abrams directing returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in addition to Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Andy Serkis (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day), Simon Pegg (Star Trek) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
