Daniel Craig dreamed of playing a superhero growing up, rather than James Bond

March 23, 2020 by Liam Waddington

While audiences around the world know Daniel Craig for playing the iconic British Secret Service agent James Bond, the actor has admitted he never dreamed of playing 007 growing up, but rather superhero characters Superman and Spider-Man.

“People are always saying to me, ‘You must have dreamed of playing James Bond when you were a kid.’ The answer is no,” Craig told Saga magazine as reported by Metro. “I never did. I dreamed of being all sorts of other things – Superman, Spider-Man, the Invisible Man, even a good old-fashioned cowboy. But Bond not so much, which seems ironic now… I’ve been lucky enough to land one of the best roles in movies. There’s no downside to playing Bond.”

While Craig never dreamed of playing the James Bond, not only did he take the role to greater heights, it sounds like he enjoyed his time in the role by admitting there is “no downside to playing Bond.”

Craig has recently confirmed the latest Bond film, No Time to Die, will be his final outing as the character. However, audiences will have to wait longer to see how Craig’s journey as 007 comes to an end after MGM and Universal delayed the upcoming release to November after growing concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

Are you looking forward to Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in No Time to Die? Would he have made a good superhero? Let us know your thoughts in the ocmments below or on our social channels @flickeringmyth…

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time To Die stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter) and Christoph Waltz (Blofeld), while new additions include Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw), Dali Benssalah (A Faithful Man) and David Dencik (Top of the Lake).
