Daniel Radcliffe says he no longer gets recognised by kids as being Harry Potter

October 24, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed that as time goes on, he gets recognised less and less for being Harry Potter.

Childhood stardom is a strange old thing and one actor who certainly knows a thing or two about it is Daniel Radcliffe, who became a global superstar thanks to his starring role in the Harry Potter franchise.

However, the actor has now revealed to MSNBC’s Morning Joe (via The Telegraph) that kids are no longer really recognising him as the character they love so much: “I do have a thing sometimes where I meet kids now and their parents will bring them up to me and they’ll be like ‘this is Harry Potter’ and the kids will be like ‘no it’s not’”.

While he may be more anonymous to kids these days, Radcliffe remains very thankful and touched that he was able to positively influence as many lives as he has: “It is very strange but also genuinely lovely when somebody comes up and says ‘you were a huge part of my childhood’.

“For me The Simpsons was a massive thing and the idea that I could occupy a similar place in someone’s else life is so crazy and wonderful. I always say I’m incredibly lucky to have got famous with Harry Potter because it is a genuinely beloved thing.”

Radcliffe has, of course, gone onto star in a number of high profile projects and smaller indie titles since Harry Potter, proving his acting chops outside the famous role.
