Danny Boyle confirms that he will direct Bond 25

March 15, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Well, it looks like the search is over. After last month’s rumours linking him to the project, Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) has now confirmed that he will direct Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 in Bond 25.

““We are working on a script right now,” Boyle told Metro. “And it all depends on that really. I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in 6 or 7 weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now. We’ve got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”

Boyle’s Richard Curtis film is described as “a musically-themed film set in the 1960s or 1970s” and is rumoured to be Beatles-themed, reportedly following a struggling musician who, for plot reasons as yet unknown, thinks he’s the only person who can remember the Fab Four.

As for Bond 25, aside from Daniel Craig’s return and a planned November 2019 release date, we have no further details. There’s been lots of rumours – including the potential return of Blofeld (with Christoph Waltz recast) and Monica Bellucci’s Lucia Sciarra – but with Hodge working on a brand new script, it seems everything is subject to change.

What do you make of the choice of Danny Boyle to direct Bond 25? Are you pleased, or would you rather have seen a different director tackling 007? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
