Danny McBride producing “genre-bending western” The Sun Always Sets in the West

THR is reporting that Danny McBride, David Gordon Green and Jody Hill’s Rough House Pictures teaming with Mainstay Entertainment to produce the indie western drama The Sun Always Sets in the West, which has been scripted by Scott Barkan and Gregg Zehentner (Edge of Fear).

Described as “a genre-bending western”, The Sun Always Sets in the West will tell the story of “a drifter who finds redemption with a hardscrabble frontier woman and her young daughter, only to see his dream of happiness jeopardized when brute mercenaries show up at his door.”

McBride is set to serve as producer on The Sun Always Sets in the West along with Norman Aladjem and Ray Moheet of Mainstay Entertainment, while Lionsgate will distribute. As yet, there’s no word on a director or cast.
