Daredevil: Born Again enlists new showrunner and directors

October 28, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Is it possible to make a pun about how the upcoming Disney+ Daredevil series has been reborn? Well, it’s there, and the series has found its new leader.

Dario Scardapane has been tapped as the new showrunner, as per  a recent report by THR. Scardapane was recently show-running Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and has past Marvel experience having been a writer and executive producer on Netflix’s The Punisher.

THR also notes the series has gained new directors, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. If those names sound familiar to Marvel fans, Benson & Moorhead are the co-directing team behind episodes of Moon Knight and Loki Season 2. Former showrunners Chris Ord and Matt Corman will now serve as executive producers.

This all comes after Marvel announced a complete retooling of its television slate, starting with Daredevil: Born Again. Reports claim Marvel wanted to harken back to the tone of that first Netflix series.

For those who don’t recall, we reported that Marvel released head writers Ord & Corman from the series, citing a complete overhaul and Marvel Studios’ approach to TV series development and production. With fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes being shot, Marvel also let go of the directors.

Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin), and Jon Bernthal (Punisher) will reprise their roles in the series, which was slated for 2024 but currently has no release date in sight.
