David Fincher close to directing World War Z sequel

April 27, 2017 by Ricky Church

Originally published April 27, 2017. Updated April 16, 2018.

Ever since last summer, there have been rumours that Brad Pitt has been courting his frequent collaborator David Fincher to come on board to direct a sequel to his 2013 film World War Z and it looks like that is now a step closer to becoming a reality.

Variety has reported Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are very close to a deal with Fincher to direct World War Z 2.

According to the trade, Paramount’s new chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos has been weighing which films to greenlight since he came into the position in the last month. He’s had a long relationship with Fincher going back to his time at 20th Century Fox where he helped Fincher’s Gone Girl get into production.

It has also been said Brad Pitt has been actively trying to get Fincher to come on board. The pair have worked on several high profile movies throughout their careers, from Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. If Fincher takes the director’s chair, this will be their fourth collaboration.

Do you want to see Fincher and Pitt reteam for World War z 2? What do you think Fincher would do with a zombie film? Let us know in the comments below…
