David Fincher wants 5 seasons of Mindhunter

October 24, 2017 by Samuel Brace

David Fincher wants to see his new series Mindhunter reach the five season mark.

The latest original drama to arrive at Netflix comes in the form of Mindhunter. Debuting two weekends ago, the series centres on the real life tale of two FBI agents travelling around 70s America, interviewing incarcerated serial killers and mass murderers.

The interviews conducted help the FBI understand why these psychopaths do what they do, therefore aiding them in being able to catch future killers. Season 1 has been very well received by fans and critics alike, and Fincher – who directed nearly half of Mindhunter’s episodes, is hoping the show makes it to five seasons.

This news comes via one of the show’s two main stars, Holt McCallany (Special Agent Bill Tench), who spoke recently with Screen Rant.

“You know I’m in small, you know, supporting parts, peripheral parts. And so it was a big deal for me to be invited back by David in one of the leads. Because you know I believe in his talent, you know, and I know that you know, he wants to do five years of this show. Five seasons of these characters and so I’m hopeful, you know I don’t take anything for granted.”

That’s certainly excellent news for McCallany and indeed fans of Fincher’s special brand of twisted, psychological drama. Five seasons does sound about right, and audiences can take heart in knowing the director has an end in sight, not wanting to drag events out in perpetuity.
