David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw join new Bad Robot/J.J. Abrams sci-fi thriller God Particle

March 29, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

The Wrap is reporting  that J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions are gearing up for their next film sci-fi blockbuster and have found their leads.

The site reports that David Oyelowo (Selma) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion) are joining God Particle, which is being directed by Julius Onah (The Girl is in Trouble). Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond) is rewriting the original script from Oren Uziel.

Produced by Abrams and partner Bryan Burk, God Particle reportedly “follows an American space station crew who, believing they have destroyed Earth via a Hadron accelerator, allow the crew of hostile nations to board their ship, with disastrous results.”

Both actors have been busy of late: aside from Concussion, Raw has recently completed Free State of Jones alongside Matthew McConaughey, while Oyelowo will next be seen opposite Rosamund Pike in A United Kingdom.

God Particle is set for release on February 24th, 2017.
