MERC WITH A CAMERA

We’ve already seen quite a few photos from the set of Deadpool 2 [see here, here and here], and they’re showing no signs of slowing down, with the latest images showing the Merc with a Mouth suited (and tooled) up on a rooftop. Check them out here.

HAN STICKING WITH MAY

Following the shock firing of Phil Lord and Chris Miller a couple of weeks ago, it was reported that new director Ron Howard would keep the movie on track for its May 2018 release. With every other movie in this Star Wars rebooted universe has been released in December, everyone presumed this would be a good chance to move Han Solo’s date and keep it in with his contemporaries. However, May is still on the cards. BrickFanatics – a LEGO fan site – has reported that the tie-in LEGO sets for the movie are still set for release in April, which would mean Han Solo will follow a month later. Read more here.

MAGNETO MUTANT MESSIAH

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be heading into production very soon, and Nerdist claim to have the inside scoop on the role Magneto will play in the film. The site is reporting that he’ll be sporting a new “messianic” costume and may have attracted followers of his ideology. Their source suggests therefore that the Acolytes may make their big screen debut in the film, while the fictional county of Genosha is also set to feature. Read more here.

PRAISE FOR THE DARK KNIGHT

While promoting his new movie War for the Planet of the Apes, director Matt Reeves has been talking about his next project The Batman for the DCEU. During an interview with Yahoo, the director also took the time to praise the work of Christopher Nolan on his Dark Knight Trilogy. “What I admire in what Nolan does is that, despite being a filmmaker in an enormous system, his perspective comes through,” stated Reeves. “That to me was very exciting, it’s always exciting when you see a film of his because of that. That’s what I feel like I’ve been trying to do, it’s trying to allow a perspective to come through despite the fact that we’re in this very large studio movie world. I think the other thing that I really admire in what Nolan did was knowing what it is to make a big studio film which often can fall into that sense of committee filmmaking where there’s an anonymity to the point of view of the film.” Read more here.

DCEU BOX OFFICE

The global success of Wonder Woman has now pushed the DCEU past the $3 billion mark. Congrats! Read more here.
