Denis Villeneuve to direct Blade Runner 2, Harrison Ford confirmed to return

February 27, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Alcon Entertainment has announced that it has found a director for Blade Runner 2, with Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Enemy) signing on to helm the follow-up to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic, and Harrison Ford confirmed as reprising the role of Rick Deckard.

“We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners,” said producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson in a joint statement. “Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”

Little is known about the plot for the sequel, save for the fact that it will take place several decades after the first movie.
