Disney and LEGO announce LEGO Avatar theme

March 26, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Although the boss of 20th Century Studios has promised that Avatar 2 is going to arrive this year, fans will certainly be forgiven for remaining sceptical given that James Cameron’s sequel to his 2009 blockbuster has been delayed EIGHT times from its originally planned 2014 date.

Whether or not we’re hit with a ninth delay remains to be seen, but it seems we will be able to take a trip to Pandora this year courtesy of The LEGO Group, with Disney’s president of consumer products, games and publishing Stephanie Young revealing that a LEGO Avatar theme is set to launch this year.

“The LEGO Group will also have a full suite of building sets to recreate and display major movie moments across both the first Avatar film and Avatar 2,” said Young (via The Brick Fan).

Although unconfirmed, the theme is believed to be launching around October, and the first wave will contain at least the following four sets:

75571 – €39.99/560 pieces
75572 – €54.99/572 pieces
75573 – €89.99/887 pieces
75574 – €139.99/1,212 pieces

Avatar 2 is directed by James Cameron and sees Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Matt Gerald, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, and Sigourney Weaver all reprising their roles from the 2009 blockbuster, while new additions to the cast include Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Filip Geljo, Jamie Flatters, Bailey Bass, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Duane Evans Jr., Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Keston John, and CJ Jones.

Avatar 2 is set for release in December 2022, followed by Avatar 3 in 2024, Avatar 4 in 2026, and Avatar 5 in 2028.
