Disney developing live-action Sword in the Stone with Game of Thrones writer

July 21, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Last week Disney announced that it was developing a live-action prequel to Aladdin entitled Genies, and now comes word from The Hollywood Reporter that 1963’s fantasy The Sword in the Stone is the latest Disney project to get a live-action makeover.

The site reports that Game of Thrones writer-producer Bryan Cogman has signed on to pen the script for the film, which revolves around the adventures of a young King Arthur.

The Sword in the Stone joins Disney’s ever-expaning list of live-action adaptations, with the likes of Beauty and the Beast, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book, Mulan, Dumbo, Tink, Prince Charming and Night on Bald Mountain all in various stages of development.
