Disney reportedly eyeing 2021 release for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

October 8, 2019 by Gary Collinson

According to Disney fan site The DisInsider, the Mouse House is eyeing a 2021 release date for its live-action reimagining of the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

As revealed earlier this year, the new take on Disney’s first ever animated feature is set to be directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) from a script by Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train), while Oscar-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Girl on the Train) will be writing new musical material, as they did for this year’s Aladdin.

The DisInsider claims that the studio is now looking to fast track Snow White, with filming set to begin in March in Vancouver and casting now underway. Disney currently has two 2021 dates set for its live-action fairy tales – March 12th 2021 and October 8th 2021 – and Snow White will presumably fill one of those spots along with The Little Mermaid.

Before we get to 2021’s big screen remakes, Disney has Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Mulan and Cruella incoming, along with the Disney+ feature film Lady and the Tramp.
