Disney villain series Book of Enchantments in development for Disney+

March 7, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that The Walt Disney Company is working on Book of Enchantments, a TV adaptation of its Villains book series, which is being produced for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service.

The series will be based upon Serena Valentino’s Villains books, and will explore the origins of some of Disney’s most iconic baddies, including Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent, The Little Mermaid’s Ursula, and Snow White’s Wicked Queen.

Michael Seitzman (Quantico) is writing and producing the series, which joins a growing list of original programming for Disney+ that includes a number of live-action Star Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe series, as well as Monsters, Inc., The Mighty Ducks, The Muppets and High School Musical shows.

As yet, there’s no official word on when we can expect Disney+ to launch, but it is expected to arrive before the end of this year.
