Doug Liman in final negotiations to direct Gambit movie

November 13, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in October it was reported that Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) had emerged as 20th Century Fox’s pick to take over from Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) on the X-Men spinoff movie Gambit, and now THR is reporting that the director is in final talks with the studio to helm the movie.

According to reports, Shane Black (Iron Man 3), Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) had all been under consideration at one point, however Liman has now held several meetings with Fox and is putting the finishing touches to his deal.

Gambit is currently slated for release on October 7th 2016, and will see Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher) taking on the role Remy LeBeau alongside Lea Seydoux (Spectre) as Bella Donna Boudreaux.
