Denis Villeneuve is getting ready to return to Arrakis with Dune 3 and has cast two significant roles. Joining the film as the twin children of Paul Atreides and Chani are Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and and Ida Brooke (Silo).
Momoa will join his father Jason Momoa in the film, the latter of whom is returning as a resurrected ghola of Paul’s loyal bodyguard and friend Duncan Idaho. The younger Momoa will make his acting debut playing Leto II while Brooke is Ghanima, Paul and Chani’s twins and heirs to their Fremen empire.
The two are introduced in Frank Herbert’s sequel Dune Messiah, which takes place 12 years after Paul Atreides overthrew his enemies and claimed the imperial throne, beginning a holy war across the galaxy as his Fremen followers fought to secure his rule as the Lisan al-Gaib.
Dune 3, which has not yet been officially titled as Messiah, will reunite Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh and Jason Momoa from the two previous Dune films. Other returning cast members have not yet been announced, but Robert Pattinson (The Batman) began negotiations earlier this year to star as the villain Scytale, a Tleilaxu Face Dancer who is a part of the conspiracy to bring down the rule of Paul Atreides.
Villeneuve’s Dune films proved quite successful at the box office for Warner Bros. and Legendary, earning more than one billion dollars combined with several Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and wins mostly in the technical categories. In addition to the upcoming film, a prequel HBO series Dune: Prophecy premiered last year and has been renewed for a second season.
Dune 3 will begin production this year for a December 18th, 2026 release.
