Facebook is looking to increase the content on its Watch video platform, and has placed a 10-episode straight to series order for an untitled dramedy which is set to be headlined by Avengers star Elizabeth Olsen.
The show has been created and written by Kit Steinkellner (Z: The Beginning of Everything) with Lizzy Weiss (Switched at Birth) serving as showrunner and Olsen and James Ponsoldt (Master of None) producing. Ponsoldt will also direct the pilot and multiple episodes of the series, the plot of which is being kept firmly under wraps.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the group we have brought together for this show,” said Olsen. “Kit’s story has been near and dear to me for years and I can’t wait to share our dark, funny and complicated show with the world.”
Facebook’s Watch platform launched in August and includes scripted comedies such as Loosely Exactly Nicole and Strangers, along with the unscripted series Ball in the Family and Returning the Favor.
Elizabeth Olsen will next be seen this May when she reprises the role of the Scarlet Witch for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.
