Ella Purnell to return for second series of Sweetpea

December 3, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Ella Purnell’s Rhiannon Lewis will kill again, as Sky has announced that it has renewed the “coming of rage” dark comedy serial killer drama Sweetpea for a second series.

“Being part of Rhiannon’s coming-of-rage journey has been a career highlight for me, and to see fans engage with and relate to our oddball Rhiannon, in all her complexity, feels truly special,” said Purnell, who stars in the series as well as executive producing alongside creator Kirstie Swain. “I cannot wait for audiences to see what she does next. Stay tuned.”

Sweetpea is based on the novel by CJ Skuse and stars Ella Purnell as a shy and reserved admin assistant at a local newspaper who develops a taste for serial murder following the death of her father.

As per the brief logline, “Series 2 will see Rhiannon Lewis return with a vengeance as her killer secret continues to spiral, and she becomes more twisted than ever.”

The first series of Sweetpea is available to watch now on Sky and NOW in the UK and on Starz in the US.
