Emily Blunt linked to Mary Poppins sequel

September 17, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Emily Blunt (Sicario) is on Disney’s shortlist to play the lead role in their upcoming Mary Poppins sequel, according to Den of Geek.

Blunt is said to be the frontrunner for the role at Disney, although it is unclear whether she has yet been formally approached by the studio.

The star previously worked with director Rob Marshall on this year’s fairytale musical Into the Woods, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.

David Magee (Life of Pi) has been hired to adapt more of PL Travers’ books for the new Mary Poppins adventure, with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) penning new songs for the musical.
