Emma Stone circling Cruella de Vil role in Disney’s live action 101 Dalmatians

January 7, 2016 by Robert Kojder

Emma Stone may not be the first person that springs to mind when imagining the villainous batty old woman Cruella de Vil, but TheWrap has learned that the actress is in talks for the role in a live-action 101 Dalmatians film.

Scribed by Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey), the treatment is also being described as a unique spin on the original story. The character had been previously brought to life in the 1996 live-action version, played by Glenn Close.

Disney’s live-action adaptations have worked out very well for them recently, with Cinderella being one of the biggest movies of 2015. They will no doubt be hoping for a similar result for The Jungle Book later this year and Beauty and the Beast, which is currently filming.

Emma Stone can next be seen starring in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming musical  La La Land releasing July 15th.
