Eric Bana to star in The Dry

December 3, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Eric Bana is set to reunite with his Romulus, My Father producer Robert Connolly for an adaptation of Jane Harper’s bestselling novel The Dry.

According to If Magazine (via Dark Horizons), the film will see Bana portraying Aaron Falk, a federal police officer who returns to his drought-ravaged hometown after a 20 year absence for the funeral of his childhood friend, who is thought to have killed his wife and child before committing suicide. Falk reluctantly agrees to investigate, and comes to suspect that the crime could be linked to an incident from their past.

“I am incredibly excited to be part of the team bringing this thrilling and evocative novel to life,” said Bana. “I love the journey of Falk and can’t wait to bring him to life along with my dear friend Rob Connolly.”

“Eric was my first choice: he is famous for deeply humanist roles,” added Connolly, who is directing the film as well as co-writing the script with Harry Cripps. “I look forward to telling Aaron’s story on a massive scale and with global reach.”

Filming on The Dry will get underway in February, and marks Bana’s first live-action role in his native Australia since Romulus, My Father in 2007.
