Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani supports the decision to delay the Marvel movie

September 24, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Kumail Nanjiani, one of the stars of Marvel’s Eternals, says he supports the decision to delay the film to 2021.

While fans may be disappointed that Disney and Marvel have decided to delay their upcoming movies such as Black Widow, Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with the pandemic sticking around, its perhaps not a massive surprise.

Kumail Nanjiani, one of the stars of Eternals, has reacted to the news that Eternals won’t be coming out in February and is instead arriving November 2021. The actor told his Twitter followers that he supports the decision:

“Eternals delayed to Nov 5, 2021. Marvel made the right & responsible decision. There’s a pandemic. Nothing is more important than health & lives. I can’t tell ppl to go to a movie theater until I feel safe going to one.

“Take care of yourselves. I promise it’ll be worth the wait!”

Hopefully, by the time that this new date comes around, the virus will be well under control, giving audiences the confidence to return to cinemas in big numbers. We will just have to wait and see.

Marvel Studios’ Eternals features an exciting new team of Super-Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

Eternals is being directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider) and features a cast that includes Angelina Jolie (Maleficent), Richard Madden (Bodyguard), Don Lee (Train to Busan), Salma Hayek (The Hitman’s Bodyguard), Lauren Ridloff (The Walking Dead), Brian Tyree Henry (Child’s Play), Lia McHugh (American Woman), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Gemma Chan (Captain Marvel) and Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk).
