Variety is reporting that Vivarium director Lorcan Finnegan has enlisted Eva Green (Dumbo), Mark Strong (Shazam!) and Chai Fonacier (Respeto) to star in his next film, the psychological thriller Nocebo.
The film is set between London and Manila will see Green playing “a fashion designer suffering from a mysterious illness that puzzles her doctors and frustrates her husband (Strong) until help arrives in the form of a Filipino carer (Fonacier), who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth.”
Written by Finnegan’s frequent collaborator Garrett Shanley, the film will explore themes of “consumerism, human exploitation and the fast fashion industry, as well as the brain’s power in deciding whether to harm or cure the physical body.”
Nocebo is being produced XYZ Films, who previously worked with Finnegan on Vivarium and Without Name., and the project is being shopped to distributors at the upcoming European Film Market this coming week.
