Ewan McGregor will star in Lodi, an upcoming drama series from Amazon.
Variety reports the actor will executive produce and star in the Prime Video series, furthering his work in some of the most notable prestige television projects. The Lodi series is based on an Atla Journal online article from Andrew Dubbins. McGregor will star as the titular Lodi, better known as Lou, who infiltrates the mafia.
McGregor has worked in some of the most high-profile films, including the Star Wars prequels and The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep. He’s recently spent some time in the world of television, including the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Showtime/Paramount+ series adaptation of A Gentleman in Moscow. Lodi will follow his work in prestige television, which has led him to an Emmy-winning role in Halston.
The official synopsis reads, “In 1977, a car salesman, Lou (McGregor), goes from ordinary small-town citizen to FBI informant infiltrating the mafia when a key member of organized crime offers to buy his Cadillac dealership. Over the next three years, Lou finds his quest for glory tested when he becomes embroiled in the inner workings of the crime family – from fronting a multimillion-dollar operation to becoming a surrogate son– before procuring the first-ever conviction of an infamous crime boss.”
Timothy Greenberg serves as the showrunner and executive producer.
