Exclusive Interview – Mark Bridges, Kevin Thompson and Steve Morrow on making Netflix’s Maestro

October 5, 2023 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno speaks with the team behind Bradley Cooper’s Maestro…

It takes a village to make a production happen, even with a strong ship captain. For Netflix’s upcoming awards contender, Maestro, Bradley Cooper is the leader in making this masterful film, but he couldn’t do it without a robust crew.

In a new interview from the film’s press junket, I sat down with the three department heads who helped create the magic of the film: Mark Bridges (Costume Designer), Kevin Thompson (Production Designer), and Steve Morrow (Production Sound Mixer).

Each offered up wonderful insight into working with Bradley Cooper, capturing the life of Leonard Bernstein, and coming together for a team effort. The hard work pays off in what I feel is one of the strongest films of 2023; find our full interview below and make sure to share if you enjoy it…

Maestro is a towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between cultural icon Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, Maestro, at its core, is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.

Maestro is directed by Cooper after he co-wrote the film with Josh Singer. Cooper and Singer are executive producing alongside Carla Raij, Bobby Wilhelm, Weston Middleton, and Tracey Landon, with Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg producing.

The film stars Bradley Cooper, Carey Mulligan, Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Michael Urie, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton and Miriam Shor.

Maestro will see a theatrical run beginning November 22nd and finally premiering on Netflix December 20th.
