Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has crossed another box office milestone this past weekend, with the film cracking the $600 million mark around the globe.
Fantastic Beasts has earned $608 million worldwide to date, including $72.5 million in China, where it is now the highest-grossing chapter of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World franchise. It should comfortably pass the $700 million mark before Lucasfilm begins rolling out Rogue One: A Star Wars Story around the globe next week, and could yet surpass the $796.7 million haul of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban from back in 2004.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
