Fantastic Four screenwriter says there’s not much of his script in the final movie

August 14, 2015 by admin

The bad press for Fantastic Four rolls in as many more stories about the film’s troubled production come to light. Not only have we found out that Josh Trank was nearly fired just before filming was about to begin, but there was the reveal that the final act of the movie was re-shot by various writers and directors including Matthew Vaughn, Simon Kinberg and Drew Goddard. And not it seems as though a lot of Jeremy Slater’s script (who was given final screen credit with Trank and Kinberg) left in the movie.

Taking to Twitter, the writer revealed that, “not a ton (sic) of my stuff left in the movie”, but he was still honoured to have been part of the process. Check out the tweets below:

There’s not a ton of my stuff left in the movie (mostly the 1st act), but I’ll always be honored that I got to play in such a cool sandbox.

— Jeremy Slater (@jerslater) August 7, 2015

I grew up with these characters. Got in fights over these characters. Burned through my allowance buying every single issue that came out.

— Jeremy Slater (@jerslater) August 7, 2015

At the end of the day, we tried to do something new and ambitious, something that respected the source material without being beholden to it

— Jeremy Slater (@jerslater) August 7, 2015

It’s up to you to decide whether or not we succeeded. But I hope you give the film a chance. And I hope you like what you see.

— Jeremy Slater (@jerslater) August 7, 2015

Fantastic Four sees Josh Trank (Chronicle) directing a cast that includes Miles Teller (Whiplash) as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (House of Cards) as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom, Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards) as Dr. Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) as Harvey Elder/Mole Man. Listen to the Flickering Myth Podcast review of the movie using the player below:
