March 18, 2025 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno looks back at Final Destination from 2000…

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Final Destination, we venture back to the year 2000 and discuss the impact of this iconic film. With the release of Final Destination: Bloodlines just around the corner, there’s no better time to revisit this classic. Join critic EJ Moreno as he looks back at what he dubs a “supernatural slasher” and one of the best horror films of the year 2000.

Check out the review below, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…

Final Destination (2000) is a supernatural horror film directed by James Wong. The film stars Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Kristen Cloke, Seann William Scott, and Tony Todd.

The story begins when Alex Browning (Devon Sawa), a high school senior, boards a plane with his classmates for a school trip. Just before takeoff, Alex has a premonition that the plane will explode mid-flight. In a panic, he and several other passengers are forced off the plane, including his friends, Clear Rivers (Ali Larter) and Carter Horton (Kerr Smith), along with other students. Soon after their departure, the plane explodes, confirming Alex’s vision.

The survivors believe they have cheated death, but soon they start dying in mysterious and gruesome ways, each one following the sequence in which they were meant to die in the crash. Alex and Clear try to figure out a way to stop the deadly chain of events, realizing that Death is trying to correct the course of fate by eliminating those who escaped it.

Final Destination is now streaming on Max.
