Finn Jones responds to negative reviews for Marvel’s Iron Fist

March 12, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Netflix’s latest Marvel series Iron Fist hits the streaming service this coming Friday, but if early reviews of the first half of the season are any indication, it falls well short of its predecessors in Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. In fact, at one point after the embargo lifted, the series had the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score ever (0%, although it has since picked up a little).

Speaking to Metro, star Finn Jones was asked about the negative reviews, responding that the show has been made for fans rather than critics, and he believes it will prove to be a hit with viewers:

“What I will say is these shows are not made for critics, they are first and foremost made for the fans. I also think some of the reviews we saw were seeing the show through a very specific lens, and I think when the fans of the Marvel Netflix world and fans of the comic books view the show through the lens of just wanting to enjoy a superhero show, then they will really enjoy what they see. I think it’s a fantastic show which is really fun and I think it stands up there with the other Defenders’ shows without a doubt.”

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.

Marvel’s Iron Fist hits Netflix on March 17th and sees Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) leading the cast as Danny Rand alongside Jessica Henwick (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Colleen Wing, David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings) as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup (90210) as Joy Meachum, Tom Pelphrey (Banshee) as Ward Meachum, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Claire Temple, Carrie-Anne Moss (Jessica Jones) as Jeri Hogarth, Wai Ching Go (Daredevil) as Madame Gao and Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) as Zhou Cheng.
