First details on DC’s My Adventures with Green Lantern revealed

August 13, 2025 by Ricky Church

Earlier this year, DC Studios and Adult Swim announced a spin-off of the animated series My Adventures with Superman was in production that would focus on the Green Lanterns. Titled My Adventures with Green Lantern, we have the first details on the upcoming series and which Lantern it will focus on.

According to Nexus Point News, My Adventures with Green Lantern is said to follow a teenaged Jessica Cruz, one of the newer Green Lanterns in the comics, as she is chosen to wield the Green Lantern ring. Unlike the comics, however, the Green Lanterns will not be intergalactic policing force but “peace-keeping warrior monks” who are on the verge of extinction.

Jessica Cruz is described as having “a normal upbringing playing softball and hanging out with her friends Kyle and Nikki until everyone around her hits puberty and she faces bullying,” turning her into a chronically anxious person as she begins attending Hal Jordan High School in Coast City. Joining her will be Green Lantern characters Kyle Rayner, who is said to be Jessica’s love interest in this series, Nikki Jones and Alex DeWitt, the last of whom infamously created the term ‘fridging’ of female characters when she was murdered and had her body stuffed into a fridge to mess with Kyle.

There is no description for Kyle Rayner yet, but Nikki will be “an overly confident, goth high schooler who doesn’t care for the approval of others. Nikki is Jessica’s lifelong best friend and protective of her, sometimes overly protective” while Alex is “the popular girl of the school. She’s a softball star and the daughter of politicians.”

While there is no idea yet of Hal Jordan’s whereabouts other than being their school’s namesake, the series will feature fan-favourite Lantern Kilowog who will be the last surviving Green Lantern after an incident in his past led to the Green Lantern Corps’ destruction and becomes Jessica’s mentor.

My Adventures with Green Lantern will take place within the same continuity as My Adventures with Superman, which follows a younger Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen as Clark becomes Superman and protects Metropolis from worldly and galactic threats. The series’ third season is expected to premiere sometime in 2025 while a premiere window for My Adventures with Green Lantern is currently unknown.

While this marks the latest Green Lantern animated series, there is plenty more to look forward to on the live-action front for fans of the universal protectors. James Gunn’s Superman saw Nathan Fillion as Lantern Guy Gardner with the HBO Max series Lanterns featuring Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler as John Stewart and Hal Jordan coming soon with Fillion reprising Guy in the series.

What do you think of the My Adventures with Green Lantern news? Are you excited to see Jessica Cruz lead the series or hoped to see another Lantern take the stage? Let us know on our social channels at @flickeringmyth…
