The film is being directed by BAFTA-mominated Will Sharpe (Flowers) and sees Cumberbatch playing British artist Louis Wain, famous for his distinctive paintings of cats that inspired hearts and minds around the world, in the extraordinary true story of a brilliant man inspired by both his love of the world and the love of his life Emily (Foy).
Joining Cumberbatch and Foy in the cast of Louis Wain are Toby Jones (Christopher Robin), Andrea Riseborough (Mandy), Stacy Martin (Nymphomaniac), Sharon Rooney (Dumbo), Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick), Julian Barratt (Mindhorn) and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch).
