First look at Ellen Pompeo’s drama series Good American Family

January 28, 2025 by Ricky Church

Hulu has released a batch of first-look photos of Good American Family, a drama starring and executive produced by Grey’s Anatomy lead Ellen Pompeo which is set to premiere in March.

The series, formerly titled Orphan, is based on the true story of Natalie Grace and a Midwestern couple who adopted her. She was thought to have a rare form of dwarfism, but questions surrounding her age and past begin to surface which makes the family believe she is dangerous. The official synopsis reads:

Told from multiple points of view, as a means to explore issues of perspective, bias, and trauma, this compelling drama is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism. But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. As they defend their family from the daughter they’ve grown to believe is a threat, she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.

In addition to Pompeo, Good American Family also features Mark Duplass, Imogen Reid, Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara.

Good American Family is created by Katie Robbins, which she executive produces with Sarah Sutherland. Pompeo is producing through her company Calamity Jane alongside Laura Holstein. The pilot was directed by Liz Garbus with 20th Century Fox overall producing the series.

Good American Family will premiere on March 19th.
