Former Smallville star Serinda Swan cast as Medusa in Marvel’s Inhumans

March 1, 2017 by Ricky Church

On the heels of Anson Mount and Iwan Rheon joining the cast of Inhumans as Black Bolt and Maximus respectively, Marvel Entertainment has now announced Chicago Fire’s Serinda Swan has signed on to play Medusa, one of Black Bolt’s wives and Queen of Attilan.

Not only does Medusa have the same super-strength that is common among the Inhumans, but her power is prehensile hair, allowing her to control each strand as if they were another limb. In the comics, she is also an accomplished thief and joined an all female group of the Avengers called A-Force.

This isn’t Swan’s first foray into the world of superheroes. She previously played the magician Zatanna in a handful of episodes during Smallville‘s later seasons.

Marvel’s Head of Television and accomplished comic writer Jeph Loeb said of her casting: “Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.”

Showrunner Scott Buck also added that: “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”

Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere in September, with the first two episodes directed by Roel Reine and getting a two week IMAX release.
