Frank Grillo wants Crossbones to get his own Marvel TV show

June 29, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this month actor Frank Grillo discussed the possibility of a return as Brock Rumlow, a.k.a. Crossbones, stating that he believes he’s “outgrowing that whole kind-of Marvel and superhero thing” and is instead focusing on creating his own content with his production partner Joe Carnahan.

However, it seems he may have had a change of heart already, as the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star has now told Forbes that he’d love to see Crossbones headlining his own Disney+ show, and believes there’s plenty of mileage left in the character.

“I would love to do [a Crossbones show] just because I have never seen a character be on the screen so little and yet have such a fan following,” said Grillo. “I scratch my head with it sometimes. I have a great relationship with Marvel and the guys there, but why didn’t they, even if it wasn’t with me, pursue that? Why isn’t Crossbones somewhere in the mix?”

“I think Crossbones was on screen for something like eight or 12 minutes, and you would think that this character was in 75 different movies the way every day people come up to me all day and talk about Crossbones,” he continues. “I’m taking pictures as if I was Captain America. So, I would do it in a heartbeat. I would love for a meeting to help them develop it. That would be great.”

Despite his demise in Captain America: Civil War, Grillo’s Rumlow did make his return for a cameo in last year’s Avengers: Endgame, so it’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibility that we’ll see him popping up again in the MCU at some point (assuming Grillo hasn’t outgrown it again). But the character receiving his own solo show? We can’t imagine that’s too high on Marvel’s list of priorities at this point. Is it something you’d like to see yourself?
