We know from Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy that Disney has plans to continue the Indiana Jones franchise, although there’s been conflicting reports as to whether Harrison Ford would return as Indy for a fifth outing, or a new actor would pick up the bullwhip and don the fedora.
Several actors have been mentioned as potential successors to Ford, with Chris Pratt seemingly the favourite when it comes to the rumour sites. However, speaking to Total Film (via Den of Geek), producer Frank Marshall has revealed that whatever happens, they won’t be recasting the role of Indiana Jones.
“There are a lot of rumors. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton. [But we are] not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out.”

So, by the sounds of it, had Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull been better received by fans, we’d now be following the adventures of Shia LaBeouf’s Mutt Williams. Maybe Indy has another son (or daughter?) that he doesn’t know about…
