Gal Gadot shares her thoughts on Wonder Woman being overlooked at the Oscars

January 26, 2018 by Jordan Jones

When Wonder Woman — defying all odds — released to rave reviews last June, many were wondering if the film may attract some Oscar buzz. Not only was the Patty Jenkins directed film the best of the troubled DC Extended Universe, but Wonder Woman was just a good film, period. However, browsing the list of nominees for the upcoming 90th Academy Awards, one will notice a complete lack of Wonder Woman. No Best Director nomination for Patty Jenkins… no Best Actress for Gal Gadot… hell, not even a Best Original Music Score, or Best Costume Design. Nothing.

Now, many have taken to social media to voice their disdain over this perceived Oscar snub, but what does Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot think about it? Talking to ET, the actress shared her thoughts:

“I was very moved and touched by the people who were disappointed that Wonder Woman wasn’t nominated, but we certainly never did the movie for that. I think that you can’t have it all. We’ve done this movie and it was received in such an amazing, wonderful way, and we want to stay humble and grateful, and we’re going to have another movie, so who knows? Maybe the next one!”

While many are disappointed that Wonder Woman is not in the running for an Oscar, this year’s Academy Awards still mark a big step forward for the comic book genre, with Logan securing a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
