George Clooney on potential Batman return in The Flash movie: “They did not ask for my nipples”

November 30, 2020 by Gary Collinson

While Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen is set to encounter multiple Batmen on his journey through the DC multiverse in next year’s The Flash movieincluding both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck’s incarnations of the Dark Knight, it seems – thankfully! – that we can rule out a return to the world of 1997’s Batman & Robin.

During an interview with Empire Magazine (via Digital Spy), George Clooney was asked whether he’s been contacted by Warner Bros. about donning the cape and cowl once more, with the actor responding: “It’s funny – you’ll notice they didn’t call me! Somehow I didn’t get that call. They did not ask for my nipples. Listen, there are certain things you never know. This one, I know.”

SEE ALSO: Can we all just admit that Batman & Robin was kind of awesome?

Given the reception to Batman & Robin, one would have to assume there’s little interest from either side in revisiting those dark memories, with Clooney regularly calling the Joel Schumacher-helmed sequel a career low point. In fact, just last week he described both the movie and his performance as “terrible”:

“The only way you can honestly talk about things is to include yourself and your shortcomings in those things. Like, when I say Batman & Robin’s a terrible film, I always go, ‘I was terrible in it.’ Because I was, number one. But also because then it allows you the ability to say, ‘Having said I sucked in it, I can also say that none of these other elements worked, either.’ You know? Lines like ‘Freeze, Freeze!’”

The Flash is set for release on November 4th, 2022 and sees Andy Muschietti (It) directing a cast that includes Ezra Miller (The Flash), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Michael Keaton (Batman).
