George Miller already working on another Max Mad: Fury Road prequel

May 5, 2024 by EJ Moreno

One thing about legendary filmmaker George Miller is that he likes to stay busy, which is why it should come as no shock that Miller has been planning and penning a prequel to his now-iconic Mad Max: Fury Road.

While promoting Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, George Miller spilled some details about the Year One Mad Max story he was cooking up, recalling working on these plans years ago before Fury Road.

“In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film],” said Miller. “And as we get towards the end of [Furiosa], the chronology, basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened. The writers know what happened to Mad Max in that year before, and we have a whole story of that, which I would like to do sometime if I get the chance.”

“Well, we are certainly working on it, adds Miller. “And as I say, we wrote that basically as a novella, and now we’ve got a chance, we will get that into a screenplay form, and then we’ll take it from there.”

While we wait for this, Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Burke, hits theaters this May. Check out the trailer below…

As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus.  Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is directed by George Miller and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, Quaden Bayles, Danile Webber, and Lachy Hulme.

Furoisa: A Mad Max Saga will be released on May 24th, 2024.
