Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine to star in Colm McCarthy’s She Who Brings Gifts

March 24, 2015 by Gary Collinson

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Glenn Close (Guardians of the Galaxy), Gemma Arterton (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Paddy Considine (The World’s End) have signed on to star in She Who Brings Gifts, the feature debut of director Colm McCarthy, whose TV credits include Sherlock, Doctor Who, The Tudors and Peaky Blinders.

Based upon Mike Carey’s 2014 novel The Girl With All The Gifts, She Who Brings Gifts is “set in a dystopian future in which much of humanity has been wiped out by a deadly fungus, it tells the story of Melanie, an infected girl with a genius-level IQ who is ‘full of questions about the world.'”

“She Who Brings Gifts is a smart take on the sci-fi genre and with a humanity, which will draw a young adult audience and those already aware of Mike Carey’s best-selling novel,” said Will Clarke, co-CEO and chairman at Altitude. “With the great cast that has come on board, we have a highly commercial film which can cut through to a broad audience.”

She Who Brings Gifts featured on last year’s Brit List, an UK-based complement to the Black List, and has been developed with support from the BFI Film Fund.
