Now that the 28 Years Later trilogy has been officially confirmed it’s time to get excited about one the reasons why that decision was made. This week Nia DaCosta’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple screened to overwhelmingly positive reactions, and so Sony Pictures are giving fans a peek behind the scenes of the scares with a brand new featurette, before the film is released early next year.
Once again written by Alex Garland, The Bone Temple picks up after the events of 28 Years Later to tell the story of the growing conflict between Ralph Fiennes Dr. Kelson and Jack O’Connell’s Satanic cult leader Jimmy Crystal. Joining them is the returning Alfie Williams, along with Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry. Check out the video below…

“Expanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later – but turning that world on its head – Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it – and Spike’s (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) becomes a nightmare he can’t escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival – the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.”
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple spreads into cinemas around the world on January 14th, 2026.
