Godzilla: King of Monsters to start shooting in the summer

February 14, 2017 by Robert Kojder

The MonsterVerse is set to continue in just under a month with the release of Kong: Skull Island, and now we have some news pertaining to the filming of the next instalment, Godzilla: King of Monsters.

Omega Underground is reporting that the sequel will surprisingly not undergo shooting in China, but rather Atlanta, and will begin filming on June 19th, 2017.

Of course, this news comes shortly after the buzz-worthy casting of Stranger Things breakout star Millie Bobby Brown a few weeks ago.

Michael Dougherty (Krampus) is currently writing the script for Godzilla: King of Monsters with Zach Shields, with Dougherty also handling directing duties. The plot is being kept under wraps, but it has been suggested that it will feature more classic monsters from the Godzilla series such as Mothra and Rodan. The sequel will also lay the groundwork for 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

Godzilla: King of Monsters hits theaters on March 22nd, 2019 while Kong: Skull Island opens next month on March 10th.
