Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 adds Steve Agee

February 2, 2016 by Justin Cook

Steve Agee has been added to the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, according to a recent episode of Doug Loves Movies.

During the February 1st episode of the podcast, host Doug Benson was talking to guest Scoot McNairy (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), who he originally had gotten in contact with thanks to Agee, a mutual friend of theirs. When explaining why Agee wasn’t able to be on the show, Benson said, “… [Steve] just found out because he’s in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he has to shoot that bullshit instead of being here with us today.”

Before 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy was released, Agee was rumored to be in the cast of the film, but director James Gunn eventually cleared things up and confirmed that he would not appear. Obviously, the two friends will now be working together on the sequel.

On top of Vol. 2, the actor/comedian is in the Gunn-written and produced horror thriller film The Belko Experiment; previously, he also played a supporting character in Gunn’s Rainn Wilson-led superhero comedy Super. His other credits include New Girl, Adventure Time and Community.

Gunn recently began rehearsals with the cast of the upcoming Marvel film and posted pictures on Facebook and Instagram.

Last week, in fact, we reported how on the podcast guest Michael Sheen confirmed his involvement in Pixar’s Finding Dory, so this is the second bit of news to come from the show.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebulda), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) and Steve Agee (New Girl).
