Guillermo del Toro teams with Netflix for Cabinet of Curiosities, an anthology featuring some of horror’s heavy-hitters

September 2, 2021 by EJ Moreno

The iconic Guillermo del Toro is heading to Netflix with a group of horror filmmakers in hopes of scaring every viewer!

Deadline reports that Netflix will produce Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, a new anthology series from del Toro, J. Miles Dale, Gary Ungar, and Regina Corrado. Cabinet of Curiosities is created, and executive produced by Guillermo del Toro and sees Dale and Corrado co-executive producing. Dale will also serve as show-runner alongside Ungar.

Deadline notes, “Production has begun in Toronto on creator, EP and co-showrunner del Toro’s collection of live-action stories that Netflix says is meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, the eight sinister tales — including two original works by del Toro — will be brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by the Shape of Water filmmaker.”

The list of filmmakers includes Twilight’s Catherine Hardwicke, The Babadook’s Jennifer Kent, and Mandy’s Panos Cosmatos. The line-up of actors is equally impressive with The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln, cult icon Crispin Glover, Tim Blake Nelson, Essie Davis, and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham.

Check out the complete list of Cabinet of Curiosities episodes below:

  • Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), Elpidia Carrillo (Euphoria), Demetrius Grosse (Fear The Walking Dead), and Sebastian Roché (The Man in the High Castle) star in an episode written by Regina Corrado (Deadwood; The Strain) (based on an original story by Guillermo del Toro); and directed by Guillermo Navarro (Godfather of Harlem; Narcos)
