Gunstar Heroes available to download free as part of the SEGA Forever Collection

December 20, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The critically acclaimed 1993 run-and-gun shooter Gunstar Heroes has become the latest addition to the SEGA Forever collection and is now available to download for free from the App Store for iPhone and iPad or Google Play Store for Android devices.

Gunstar Heroes was developed by Treasure, the Japanese studio known for frantic action games and innovative gameplay systems, and first published by SEGA for the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. The game has two playable characters, ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ – two members of the Gunstar family – who are on a mission to stop the Empire, an evil organisation that has set out to destroy civilization.

At the time of release, Gunstar Heroes met widespread approval from critics and fans alike and has been listed by multiple publications as one of the best video games of all time. Like other games in the SEGA Forever collection, Gunstar Heroes offers added features like leaderboards, cloud saves, controller support, and cross-platform local multiplayer capabilities.

Gunstar Heroes is available now on Android and iOS.
