Gwendoline Christie felt “unbelievable” upon being cast as Captain Phasma in Star Wars

November 28, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Gwendoline Christie has said that she felt “unbelievable” at being cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Captain Phasma.

Right from the get go, with the character’s chrome storm trooper attire, and dominating stature, Phasma has been an alluring character, with fans eager to find out more details.

The character is set to appear again in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the actress behind the character, Gwendoline Christie, has told Indo Asian News Service how she felt upon first being cast:

“I can remember the precise moment I was cast as Captain Phasma in Star Wars. It was an explosion of unbelievable joy. For a long time, I had campaigned to be in the franchise to anyone who would listen. It was an ambition motivated by one of my earliest memories, of when, aged six, I was placed in front of the flamboyant space opera. I marveled at this fantasy world in a way I couldn’t yet articulate, with its misfits and droids and a woman who fought the enemy with intelligence, who was funny and refused to be shackled – the inimitable Princess Leia.”

Here’s hoping that Phasma gets involved a little more in the action when The Last Jedi makes its way to cinemas.
