Gwendoline Christie joins Amandla Stenberg in Darkest Minds

Game of Thrones and Star Wars star Gwendoline Christie has signed to to star in 20th Century Fox’s Darkest Minds, which is being directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda) and is based upon Alexandra Bracken’s YA book trilogy.

Darkest Minds is set in a a post-apocalyptic America where a pandemic has killed most of American’s children, with some of the survivors developing superpowers and finding themselves places in internment camps after being deemed too dangerous for society.

Amandla Stenberg is leading the cast as Ruby Daly, a 16-year-old with telekinetic powers who joins a group of teens on the run from the government. Christie is set to play a bounty hunter who takes immense pleasure in tracking down the fugitive teens.

Christie will next be seen reprising the role of Brienne of Tarth in this summer’s seventh season of Game of Thrones, while she will also return as Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ Captain Phasma in December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
