Deadline is reporting that Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense, Yoga Hosers) is joining Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Cinderella) in the cast of Amazon’s sci-fi drama pilot The Book of Strange New Things.
The Book of Strange New Things follows a priest called Peter (Madden) who is sent into space to help found a new colony but what he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test but life as we know it. Osment will portray the character of Sy, “a man who used to grow large quantities of marijuana before being recruited to work on the new colony as chief botanist.
The pilot, which is based upon Michel Faber’s novel, has been scripted by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), with Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) set to direct.
