Halo TV series cancelled after two seasons

July 19, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Halo has seen its last mission and has been put out of its misery. The Paramount+ game series is over after two seasons, mixed reviews, and some fan backlash.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work,” Paramount+ said in a statement. “We wish everyone the best going forward.”

Halo just wrapped its second season back in March. Reports note that the show’s producers are open to possibly moving the series, and Paramount+ is “supportive.”

“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success, and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” reads a statement from 343 Industries. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. In the wake of a shocking event on a desolate planet, John cannot shake the feeling that his war is about to change and risks everything to prove what no one else will believe – that the Covenant are preparing to attack humanity’s greatest stronghold. With the galaxy on the brink, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humankind’s salvation, or its extinction — the Halo.

Season 2 of Halo sees the return of Pablo Schreiber, Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, Danny Sapani, Fiona O’Shaughnessy and Tylan Bailey, alongside series newcomers Joseph Morgan and Cristina Rodlo.

The first two seasons of Halo streaming on Paramount+.
