HBO has “very, very high hopes” for Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen pilot

July 27, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

HBO’s Television Critics Association presentation has taken place this week, and it has offered up some snippets of information on the current state of Damon Lindelof’s (The Leftovers, Lost, Prometheus) adaptation of Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel, Watchmen.

Deadline is reporting that the network’s programming president, Casey Bloys, discussed the pilot, which has been directed by Nicole Kassell (The Woodsman, The Killing), stating that he had “very, very high hopes”.

The pilot – which tells an original story set in the Watchmen universe – is yet to be given the green-light to go to series, but Bloys went on to say: “They did a great job. Damon wrote a phenomenal script, and Nikki Kassell did an amazing job shooting the show. I think we see it in a few weeks. So, we’ll see.”

With a star studded cast featuring Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Regina King (Seven Seconds), Don Johnson (Django Unchained), Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) Yahya Abdul-Mateen (Aquaman) and Louis Gossett Jr. (Iron Eagle), it shouldn’t be too long before we find out whether we’ll get to see Lindelof’s Watchmen on the small screen.
